In just a few steps, you'll craft a unique planter that brings a touch of modern elegance and handmade flair to any room!
You'll need:
- InkPerfect: Carbon Edition fabric; One main fabric (we used “Echoes of Carbon”) & one lining fabric (we used Pure Solids Latte). Reminder: Starting size of fabric depends on how big your planter is!
- Batting, such as Hobbs Batting
Here’s how it’s done!
1. Circle Base: Trace the base of your pot on paper, add 1/2" all around for seam allowance, then cut out your circle template. Use this template to cut circles from your main fabric, batting, and lining fabric.
2. Rectangle Sides: Quilt your main fabric and batting together. Then measure your pot’s height including the desired fabric fold and add 1/2”. For the length, multiply your circle’s diameter by 3.14. Then cut the rectangles from both the quilted piece and your lining fabric.
3. Fold the quilted rectangle in half (right sides together) and sew along the edge.
4. Pin the circle main fabric and batting together, right sides facing up. Then pin your circle and rectangle tube together with batting sides facing out, sew around the base to attach it.
5. Take your lining fabric pieces (one circle and rectangle) and fold the rectangle in half and sew the edges together. Sew the circle to the bottom of the rectangle and then flip right side out.
6. Place the lining inside the quilted planter (right sides together), sew around the top leaving a gap. Flip everything right side out and close the opening with a final stitch.
Your custom, quilted planter is ready to bring style and warmth to any space!
