Craft this handy, adorable accessory– it’s a must-have and sew easy to make! We used the oh-so-charming plaid print ‘Wooly Bush’ from the Lambkin collection by Bonnie Christine.
Here’s what you need to do:
1. Cut four 5” x 8” rectangles (also cut two pieces of batting, slightly larger than the 5” x 8” pieces) and two smaller rectangles at 1 ¾” x 2 ½ ”.
2. To create the small bag loops, fold the 1 ¾” x 2 ½ ” rectangles, sewing along the longer edge.
3. Take the two 5” x 8” pieces, layer with batting, and quilt together (right sides facing up).
4. To add the flap, cut a 5” x 1 ¾ ” rectangle, fold it in half, and stitch a semi-circle to shape the flap.
5. Pin the loops and flap to one quilted rectangle.
6. Place an unquilted 5" x 8" rectangle on top of each quilted one (right sides facing) and sew a line at the top only.
7. Take a 2” x 37” strip, fold, sew to clean the edges with a larger stitch, then gather by pulling the threads to form the ruffle.
8. Following the placement in the video, pin your ruffle facing in, place the other rectangle on top (unquilted side facing up), and sew all around except for the opening on top. Don't forget to bind your seams!
9. Flip the bag right side out, and attach your snap closure.
10. To make the braided strap, braid six 1” x 38” strips together (we took 2 strips, sewed them end to end to make them longer pieces, and then braided the 3 long strips together!), secure both ends with a clip, then attach!
