Hello, fabric lovers!
I’m Donna from XOXSEW, and I’m thrilled to be here to talk about our cover quilt sample for the Bob Blob quilt pattern! There are two colorways in the pattern, and I used the festive option for the cover, which uses a different background color for each block.
As a big fan of using different colors for my quilts, I knew PURE Solids would come through for the cover quilt. With over 200 colors, their wide selection made it easy to experiment with different color combinations.
The festive option in the pattern reminds me of the classic wooden blocks from childhood. To mimic the colorful vintage toys, I chose a mix of PURE Solids across the rainbow spectrum, leaning towards non-primary colors to soften the quilt.
However, I wanted some high-impact colors to balance the softer ones, so I added some punchy colors to create some depth into the mix: Summer Sun, Coral Reef, and Electric Lime. Once I added these three, the palette was complete. It’s playful, vibrant, and smooth — just like Bob!
Note: Snow (white fabric) and Caviar (black fabric) are not shown.
Working with PURE Solids is as dreamy as it is looking at them. It’s one of the reasons why I use them for my quilt projects time and time again. There’s hardly any fraying during sewing, and they cut so effortlessly.
For the backing, I picked out the Mindful Paths Wide Back before it was sent off to Trace Creek Quilting for longarming. It’s one of my favorite backings because it goes so well with all kinds of quilt projects!
If you love this cover quilt sample as much as I do, we have a giveaway coming soon! We’ll be giving away all the PURE Solids you’ll need to make the quilt top. Keep an eye on our Instagram accounts (@artgalleryfabrics and @xoxsew) for the giveaway details and your chance to enter!
