How many of you have had the opportunity to travel outside of their home country? Traveling to new places you are able to see and experience different styles of architecture, art, ways of living, food, music, nature and so much more. It’s a phenomenal way to grow as a creative and incorporate new perspectives into your designing and use of fabrics.

Katarina Roccella has brought the city of Barcelona into our sewing spaces. Providing fabrics that capture the heart of this cosmopolitan city, where so many great artists and movements were created. Barcelona fabricates the artistry of a city that lives and breathes creativity. Featuring flowing Art Nouveau motifs, mosaic-like patterns, and bold jewel tones, this collection takes the vibrant essence of Barcelona to your sewing & quilting projects. View Lookbook for sewing inspiration and free sewing projects.

‘Hivernacle’ free quilt pattern showcases just how impactful the Barcelona collection is pieced together in a quilt. Sew triangle templates together to create big bold blocks that remind me of stained glass windows. The movement created with the triangles and fabric placement is outstanding! Measuring in at  97 ½” × 97 ½”, this showstopper quilt comes together easily but looks intricate and time consuming.

What I love most about this collection is the different uses of texture and shading making each print come to life while adding warmth, richness and emotion to the fabric.

‘Casa Vicens Gold’ is inspired by architect Antoni Gaui and his first major project the Casa Vicens! These golden yellow blooms surround this amazing house with other nature inspired elements and incorporation of several different artificial styles from around the world. Celebrate the beauty of these blooms in your quilt backing, home decor and apparel projects.

‘La Pedrera Glow’ has organic movement with white vines wrapping around each other creating a woven linear  design on top of a pale pink background. The addition of modern architectural shapes in a bold dark honey creates a stunning canvas to use as  blender fabric in quilts or as an all over print in apparel for mens shirting and womens dresses.

Trencadís Tapestry’ is such an interesting, clever print. You will find different patterns, motifs and colors broken into organic shapes and then puzzled back together to create such a unique all over print that works great in patchwork projects and used as in whole fabric projects.

‘Barcelona Landmarks’ is a jaw dropping print covered with brilliant texture showcasing  building after building giving us a front row seat to  the sites and historical places Barcelona is famous for. I promise you no matter how long you stare at this work of art you will always find something new you haven’t seen before making it amazing for large scale upholstery projects, curtains, bedding, and quilt backings.

‘Gaudi’s Garden’ is by far my favorite print from the collection. I am a giant fan of  Katarina Roccella’s floral prints with an exquisite amount of detail and life-like appearance in the way she creates her floral prints which is offered in our 108’ wide selection of fabrics. Perfect for using in quilt backs, bedding and large scale home decor projects.
