Hello Sewing Friends,
Summer is upon us and nature and wildlife is in full swing. Summer gardens are starting to flourish and wild flowers are blooming all around. Sharon Holland encapsulates the beauty and life Summer brings, with her new collection Midsummer!
Midsummer is a celebration of the season of summer, which is considered the longest day of the year. I don’t know about you but I am loving the early sunrises and late sunsets we have been having. Summer days seem to last forever, sometimes feeling like two days in one. As long as they are, summer in itself ends far too fast compared to the cold days of fall and winter. As a child I felt so warm and safe in the joyful light summer gives us. But now Sharon has blessed us with this feeling that we can take with us all year around by sewing with Midsummer.
Midsummer has soft hues of blush pinks, hazy yellow, airy blues, touches of lavender and deep luscious greens. With an array of delicate floral designs and the perfect blender prints to match back for all your summer sewing. Flip through the Fabric lookbook below to immerse yourself in all Midsummer has to offer.

“Days in the Sun” free quilt pattern is bursting with a rainbow of colors and measures out to be about 68” x 72” making it a convenient size to take with you for all those summer outdoor outings. The triple triangle squares technique used to create the blocks add such a great effect of extra movement.

Another quilt I need to talk about is the “Plenum” Quilt. If you’re a fan of flying geese then this quilt is definitely for you. With the geese arranged facing up and down in alternating rows it looks like this quilt could take flight. We also offer this quilt as a kits with our Color Master boxes with half yard and Fat Quarter options.
I have been on a sewing kick with AGF flannel lately and “Tiny Dancer Lilac” is another flannel I am adding to the sewing list. This whimsical design of floating dandelion puffs flying through the warm summer air is so delicate taking you into a dream like state. My four year old daughter is in love with picking these and making wishes. Her wish every time is for a unicorn and I don’t have the heart to tell her they aren’t real just yet. I can see cute matching pjs for her and I and even a little jumper dress for her in the fall months.
If you are a fan of hexies this collection is perfect to showcase this collection. Get inspired by the many projects with hexies, coasters, bags, and a key chain.
It’s way too hard to choose a favorite print from this collection but if I was forced to I would actually choose the binding fabric, “Summer Bound”. With a choice of light pink dark moss this fabric can be used in so many ways. For binding of course but also for project embellishments, straps for apparel and bags. I have an apron tutorial I am working on that uses this binding fabric in such a delightful way which I cant wait to share soon!
