Hello Sewing Friends,
Bring on the flowers! Last collection release I sewed up the Ditsy Daisy Block with Midsummer Fabrics and I can’t get flowers out of my brain! So here comes another flower quilt block to add to your quilting resume! The “Tulips Fields” block measures 12 1/2″ x 13″ but surely packs a punch with the linear floral design of tulips lined up in a row just like a tulip field. This block pairs back with the Modernista Fabrics I used so incredibly well. The geometric designs and bold vibrant colors shine in this graphic tulip pattern.
If you are up for the challenge of making tiny HST’s, using the corner square method, and adding some sashing strips then let’s get started! Watch the full tutorial below.

Tips For Tiny Piecing:
- Make sure your seam allowance is super accurate and you are squaring up your HST’s to the proper size.
- Chain piecing units together will save you a lot of time.
- Trimming threads as you go will make sure they don’t get in the way while sewing.
For as tiny as these quilting units are, it sure came together pretty fast and I am eager to make a few more blocks and turn them into a tablerunner! My sister would be obsessed to receive a table runner like this! She is without a doubt my number one fan when it comes to handmade makes and she has a big house to decorate all my makes in! Who is your number one cheerleader and lover of all your makes? Let me know in the comments below! Here are a few more blocks made with the rest of the prints in Modernista Fabrics. Press your pieces really well as you go. Starching your fabrics will help with fraying, especially because the pieces are so small it will definitely make things easier.
As always post your blocks on social media using the hashtag #AGFModernista and make sure to share this block tutorial with the rest of your quilting friends. Let me know what you think of the block below!
Happy Sewing,
Melissa
